Freshwater Finesse with the Live Ops Range

Freshwater Finesse with the Live Ops Range

Freshwater fishing can be a game of timing, precision, and patience. When the weather turns cold, water clears up, or fish shut down, you need lures that work on the pause, flick with minimal effort, and get bit without needing speed. The fish aren’t always going to feed aggressively; they’re waiting for the right presentation to make a move.

The Radiax Grub, Cobra Shad, and Wingman Jerkshad from the Live Ops range have been engineered for subtlety, versatility, and maximum triggering power in even the toughest freshwater conditions. Whether you're rolling through deep timber, skipping along weed beds, or twitching over rock bars, this trio delivers movement, vibration and rigging versatility without overworking the fish.

The Radiax Grub is a compact curl tail ideal for cold water and shut-down fish. Built with a soft-stretch Titan RX body and a bulb-tipped curl tail, the Radiax generates continuous flick and pulse even when you’re barely turning the reel handle. Add in UV glow and Tracer Scent, and this bait stays in the zone longer and gets picked up when others get ignored.

How to Fish It for Freshwater Species:

Slow Rolling Through Deep Holes and Rock Edges Perfect for redfin, trout, or yellowbelly holding in low-current zones, drop-offs, or deep pools.

Setup & Technique: Rig on a 1/16–1/8oz jighead depending on depth. Cast past your target zone, let it sink, and retrieve slowly just enough to keep tension. The tail kicks on its own with little to no rod input and the legs will flutter down. Add short pauses on the retrieve to let it drop and thump again. Great for river and impoundment trout, yellows and redfin sitting mid-water or on structure.

The Cobra Shad is a finesse reaction bait built to jump off the bottom and trigger impulse bites. Its flared “cobra wing” profile and internal Adjusta-Ball tungsten system give it a lift-and-drop action that’s perfect for yellowbelly, bass, and estuary perch holding close to cover. The lure lifts upward on a twitch, then glides and flutters back to bottom mimicking fleeing bait or injured prey.

How to Fish It for Freshwater Species:

Twitching Along Standing Timber, Weed Edges or Hard Bottom Fish sitting tight to snags or pinned to structure often won’t chase. The Cobra Shad piques their interest and makes them move.

Setup & Technique: Rig weedless or on a light jighead and cast near structure. Use a sharp twitch to lift the bait, then let it fall on slack line. Adjust the tungsten ball placement inside the bait to change sink angle, tail down to mimic prawns or baitfish diving or level for slow gliding descent. Ideal for estuary perch, bass and yellowbelly in snaggy or vertical zones.

The Wingman is a finesse jerkshad that triggers fish with flick, flash, and pulse. Designed with a split-tail profile, disruptor fin, and Mirage X internal foil, the Wingman moves even when sitting still. That makes it perfect for spooky bass, estuary perch, or trout in clear or calm conditions.

How to Fish It for Freshwater Species:

Twitching Suspended Fish or Fishing Over Weed Flats and Creek Bends Fish that aren’t committed especially when using forward-facing sonar will often follow but don’t bite. Wingman turns them into eaters.

Setup & Technique: Rig on a 1/12–1/8oz jighead or lightly weighted weedless hook. Use short, sharp rod twitches followed by full pauses. The foil belly flashes with no movement, and the tail pulses with any current or slack-line fall. It’s the perfect tool for sight-casting at fish hanging just off structure or holding deep near drop-offs.

The Radiax Grub, Cobra Shad, and Wingman are all about subtlety, control, and strike timing. When freshwater fish are sitting deep, moving slow, or just shadowing your lure, these baits offer flick, flash, scent, and vibration. Whether you’re chasing bass in a snag-filled creek or suspended schools in impoundments, slow-rolling for trout in a crystal-clear pool, or hunting redfin through late-season weed beds, this Live Ops lineup gives you the edge.
